Bangalore: The results for the Karnataka Assembly elections, which recorded the second highest voter turnout in 35 years with a polling percentage of 71.29 in the May 5 voting, will be known on Wednesday. The results will decide the fate of 2,940 candidates in 223 Assembly segments.
Out of these, Bangalore slightly improved its record with a higher turnout at the booths but still remained the lowest in the state.
Bangalore urban district recorded 52.83 per cent voting, the state election authorities said while the state average was around 70 per cent of the over 40 million voters.
In the last assembly polls in 2008, the turnout was around 45 per cent. In contrast Bangalore rural district recorded the highest turnout on Sunday with 77.95 per cent voting, the district-wise voting percentage given by the authorities shows.
