Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav who is serving jail sentence in a fodder scam case on Wednesday appointed his wife and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi as national vice-president of the party.
The RJD leader has reconstituted its national working committee which marks many surprise inclusions and exclusions.
Lalu has ousted Siwan strongman Mohammad Shahabuddin, lodged in Tihar jail, but included his wife Hena Saheb as member of working committee in what could be seen as his continued focus on keeping the minority community in the party’s fold.
The newly constituted working committee also looks like a family affair as almost all the members of Lalu family have made it into the list. Both of his sons, Tejashwi and Tej Pratap, and daughter Misa Bharti have been included as members.
Lalu’s long term aid and MLA Bhola Yadav also figures in the list. Now there are five vice presidents – Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Mohammad Illiyas Hussain, Rabri Devi, Shivanand Tiwary and Mangni Lal Mandal.
The party has also included renowned lawyer Ram Jethmalani, who represented him in the Supreme Court, in the working committee.
