Bhopal: In an incident that left the ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh red-faced, Agriculture Minister Gaurishankar Bisen and the Balaghat MP Bodh Singh Bhagat had a heated argument during a 'sabka saath sabka vikaas' programme.
The war of words between the two leaders was captured on camera.
During his speech at the event, Gaurishankar Bisen lauded a private company which had entered into an agreement with District Co-operative Bank in Balaghat. However a farmer Lakhan Bisen stood up and objected to minister’s praise. Following this, policemen threw the farmer out of the venue.
When Bhagat was addressing the gathering, he supported the farmer’s views. This infuriated the Agriculture Minister who entered into a verbal spat with the MP.
Bhagat did not sit quietly. He abused Bisen and soon the duo almost came to blows. Senior BJP members intervened to stop the fight.
Both the leaders tried to prove that they were true well-wishers of farmers. Both of them belong to the Balighat district and have a strenuous relationship.
BJP district head Ramesh Manglani said a report of the spat has been sent to the party headquarters.
