Maharashtra minister carries revolver at kids' event, faces criticism

Mumbai: Maharashtra minister and BJP leader Girish Mahajan faced flak on Monday after he attended an event for deaf and dumb children with a revolver tucked in his waist, an act dubbed as "inappropriate".

The minister claimed that he had a license for the weapon. But the opposition continues to be up in arms, they are questioning the need to carry a weapon while addressing students.

"I have a licensed pistol since 25 years. I always use to keep this pistol with me. This is for self defence only," he said.
