Mamata threatens to resume Singur agitation
TC accused the Bengal govt of "quietly" renewing land lease to the Tatas.

Kolkata: Accusing the West Bengal government of "quietly" renewing land lease to the Tatas, Trinamool Congress on Sunday threatened to resume its movement in Singur for return of 400 acres of land forcibly acquired from farmers.

"When we were busy with Lok Sabha elections, the Left Front government quietly renewed lease of the land to the Tatas at Singur. We will resume our agitation for return of the 400 acre after six of our MPS take oath on Tuesday," Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee said.

The state government had renewed the lease in Singur though the Tatas had not announced any plan to resume work, she claimed, adding "the Tatas also hold unutilised land in Gujarat and Kalinganagar in Orissa".

"It is unacceptable to us that some people will go on increasing their land holding while another section will not have enough to eat," Banerjee, the new Railway Minister, said.

Earlier, the Tata's Nano project, planned at Singur, was shifted out of the state following strong protest from the Trinamool Congress.

State-sponsored terror in Bengal, alleges Mamata

Mamata Banerjee, whose party has made inroads in West Bengal in the Lok Sabha elections, said she had informed the Centre about "state-sponsored terrorism" by the ruling CPI(M)-led Front government.

"We have informed the Centre about the state-sponsored terrorism. So far, 15 people have been killed in post-poll violence in the state. Of them, 11 were our supporters," Banerjee said.

She alleged that the CPI(M) cadre torched the houses of nearly 150 Trinamool workers at Riana in Bardhaman district.

"We have, however, asked our workers to maintain restraint." Asked whether she wanted the Left Front government to go on its own, Banerjee said, "they will not resign on their own. They do not abide by the Constitution."

She claimed that Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi had also criticised the LF government for unconstitutional acts, while its own ministers had admitted that "unethical acts" were committed.

Violence was being unleashed by CPI(M) both in West Bengal and Kerala, she alleged and added, "we have raised the issue at the UPA meeting, we will raise it again."
