The MGP has decided to contest both the Lok Sabha seats in Goa.

Panaji: The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) has decided to contest both the Lok Sabha seats in Goa.

"We will contest both the seats, North and South, on our own symbol," MGP President Pandurang Raut said.

MGP, one of Goa's oldest regional outfit, is currently a coalition partner in Digamber Kamat-led government in the state.

"We have shortlisted three names each for both the constituencies which we will divulge at appropriate time," Raut said.

The party, during its executive committee meet on Tuesday, agreed for a pre-poll alliance with any other like minded political outfit. It, however, resolved against a tie up with the Congress.

"But we will fight election on our symbol -- Lion," he added.

MGP, which has two MLAs in the Goa Legislative Assembly, does not have a representative in Lok Sabha.
