New Delhi: The Home Ministry may reject the demand from the External Affairs Ministry to let officials retain expensive gifts from foreign trips.

Reports suggested that the External Affairs Ministry wrote to the Home Ministry asking it to increase the limit on price of gifts from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000.

The Home Ministry had fixed a ceiling of Rs 5,000 for these gifts according to which officials could only retain gifts valued in excess of Rs 5,000 after paying the difference.
