No decision yet on BJP Parliamentary Board meeting on Friday
Even as Rajnath tried to reach out to senior party leaders, there has been no consensus in the BJP over Modi's PM candidature.

New Delhi: There is no end to the Bharatiya Janata Party's woes as it has failed to reach to a consensus on naming Gujarat Chief Minister and the party's election campaign committee chief Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate. There is still no clarity whether the BJP Parliamentary Board will meet on Friday or not.

Party President Rajnath Singh on Thursday went on to attend a private function after a doing a series of meetings with senior party leaders to garner support for Modi's anointment.

The LK Advani camp is insisting that the decision on Modi's anointment should be taken after the Assembly polls scheduled in November.

Sources said that party patriarch Advani has told Rajnath that unlike Goa, he will attend the Parliamentary board meeting and register his protest on nominating Modi. Sources said Rajnath is still keen on achieving consensus on Modi's nomination. The RSS wants Modi to be nominated, but has left the decision on the process and timing of announcement to Rajnath, said sources.

Sources said the Modi camp is insisting that the announcement be made either on Friday or on Monday. Rajnath Singh has said that an announcement will be made after discussions.

Meanwhile, Rajnath has denied that there is any split in the party on Modi. "No one in the party is upset. All are together. There is no problem in the party," Rajnath Singh said.
