New Delhi: 12:00 pm:
11:30 pm: Rajya Sabha adjourned till noon after uproar by Opposition parties demanding special economic package for seven backward states.
10:50 am: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said that there is a possibility that the Parliament session could be extended. "Everything is possible. We will discuss with all political parties," he said.
After the passage of the Telangana Bill, the UPA government is mulling pushing through six anti-corruption Bills on the last day of the extended winter session of Parliament before general elections on Friday.
These bills are key to Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's election campaign who is being projected as an anti-corruption crusader by the party. The Bills include the Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill, the Whistle Blowers Protection Bill, and the Time Bound Delivery of Goods and Services and Grievance Redressal Bill.
"It will be my effort till the end to see the anti-corruption bills which are necessary, at least some of them are passed. The BJP must come forward and say that we would like to pass them," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said.
The Congress also gave the credit for the passing of the Lokpal and Lokayukta Bill, 2011 to Rahul who has been blaming the Bharatiya Janata Party of stalling the bills. The BJP in turn, had hit back at him saying that Rahul has woken up too late to the problem of corruption.
