Lucknow: With Lok Sabha elections barely months away, a reordering of alliances is in order. The latest being estranged uncle of Akhilesh Yadav Shivpal willing to join the SP-BSP alliance for the mega polls in 2019.
SP patriarch Mulayam Singh’s daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav made the revelation while speaking at a function in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday.
“I think if the Gathbandhan happens, then it will be really good as both the parties are trying to forge an alliance for quite some time. As far as question of Chacha Ji (Shivpal) joining the alliance, then I think he has already stated that he is ready to join the alliance given his terms are accepted,” said Aparna.
On being asked about her preference, she picked the senior Yadav: Mulayam Singh. “I am always with Neta Ji (Mulayam Singh Yadav). I am in politics because of his blessings only. I have no differences with Akhilesh bhaiya whatsoever, I am still a member of the Samajwadi Party. I am trying to act as a bridge between the family members.”
After differences with his nephew and SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav, Shivpal had formed a breakaway group called ‘Secular Morcha’ in order to bring all the dissenting Samajwadi Party leaders under one umbrella, before finally announcing a full-fledged political party - Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia).Shivpal alleged that he was not given due respect by his nephew Akhilesh Yadav.
Shivpal Yadav had also announced that his party will contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on all seats in UP, leaving the place where Mulayam Singh chooses to contest from.
