New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her daughter, Priyanka, are expected to speak at a public meeting on Tuesday in Raebareli as the campaigning for UP Assembly polls reaches its final stages.
Two phases of the polls have already been concluded.
On Monday, Priyanka Gandhi, while campaigning in Uttar Pradesh had said that while development was taking place in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, both Congress-ruled states, it was nowhere to be seen in Uttar Pradesh, which is ruled by Mayawati-led BSP.
"You have seen Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. All these states are progressing while Uttar Pradesh is not developing," she said.
However, quickly realising that Madhya Pradesh was a BJP-ruled state, she corrected her statement saying it was a slip of the tongue.
With a smile on her face, she clarified, "There is not such a good government in Madhya Pradesh. It was a slip of the tongue. I was talking about Congress-ruled states. I wanted to say Maharashtra but ended up saying Madhya Pradesh.
"Development is happening in the Congress-ruled states," she said.
