R Ravi Kumar’s Ayalaan movie hit the silver screens on January 12, 2023. The Tamil film had grabbed the headlines due to reports of advanced computer techniques and CGI usage in the movie. This was done to create a visually appealing experience for cinegoers. The movie is fronted by Sivakarthikeyan and the music is being handled by musical maestro AR Rahman. It has been produced by D Raja under the banner of 24 AM Studios and KJR Studios. The science-fiction movie revolves around an alien descending upon Earth. It also stars Rakul Preet Singh, Yogi Babu, Isha Koppikar, Banupriya, Karunakaran and Bala Saravanan in the various roles. Now that the movie has been released, here is a review on Ayalaan.
The character of Sivakarthikeyan in the film, Ayush Narayan, is shown to be an organic farming enthusiast. On his visit to his hometown, Chennai, he faces an unusual situation as an alien descends upon Earth. Unlike in some Hollywood movies, the alien has not been shown to be a monster, but it will bring back the nostalgia of Steven Spielberg’s ET. The adorable alien has been created to appeal to children. The plot also shows a villain hatching his evil plans. So, will the alien be able to foil the villain’s plans? How exactly does Ayush Narayan help in this situation?
One of the scenes that was totally enjoyed by the audience, especially the kids, is when the alien and Ayush Narayan join hands. The humour level in certain scenes could have been more interesting. The first half of the movie is fun and kids will absolutely love it. The graphics in the movie are excellent and have been given proper attention to, especially when the alien appears and its little adventures. The second half of the movie tends to get a bit draggy and boring for the audience.
Sivakarthikeyan has given a stellar performance in the movie. Rakul Preet Singh adds her own charm to the movie, however it is Karunakaran and Yogibabu who will leave you gasping for breath with their comic timings, expressions and dialogues. Bhanupriya gets very little screen time. The same goes for Isha Koppikar, who is seen in a very brief scene.
