New Delhi: Google has announced a new addition to its line of products- the Google Chromebit- a Chrome OS-based device that packs in itself the core specifications of a standard Chromebook and is likely to cost less than $100.
Unveiled alongside Google's new lineup of low-cost Chromebooks, the Chromebit is made by Asus and sports 2GB of RAM, Rockchip's 3288 processor and 16GB of storage. The device also has Bluetooth capabilities. The device is in itself a computer; you simply need to plug in the device to any display and turn it into a computer.
The Chromebit includes two ports for HDMI and USB. The HDMI port can be used to connect the dongle to an external display, while the USB port could be used to power and connect peripherals like a keyboard or a mouse, a Mashable report noted.
With the size that is smaller than an iPhone 6, Chromebit's potential usages could range from powering digital signage to a travel accessory to aiding displays at Internet cafes with outdated PCs and many more.
Exact pricing and availability of the device is not available. However, the company expects to roll out the device later this year along with the new range of affordable Chromebooks.
