After weeks of speculations Samsung has finally taken the wraps off its new Galaxy devices- the Galaxy Note 5 and the bigger Galaxy S6 Edge+ - and its mobile payments service- Samsung Pay, at the Galaxy Unpacked event at the Lincoln Center in New York.
- The Galaxy Note 5 has been crafted with metal and glass which is thinner, stronger, and lighter than before.It has a thinner bezels and a curved back that offers better grip.
- The Note 5 comes with a 5.7-inch QHD display and features 4GB LPDDR4 RAM. It features a 16 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front snapper.
- It comes with an improved S Pen that works as smooth as a ballpoint pen and lets you write even when the screen is off, without having to open an app.
- Samsung is also offering an add-on keyboard cover for the Galaxy Note 5 for easy typing on-the-go. It has also introduced a fast wireless charging feature for both the smartphones that power the devices from empty to full in 2 hours.
- Common features of the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ include 4GB of RAM, 4K video recording feature, a Live Broadcast feature, Sidesync, and Samsung Pay. The new Live Broadcast feature lets you directly broadcast videos from your phone to YouTube. Sidesync file-syncing feature works with the latest Windows 10 and Macs.
- The Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be available in the US and Canada from August 21. Samsung Pay mobile payments service comes with NFC and also supports majority of magstripe card readers. It also supports brand store cards. It will debut in Korea on August 20, and will arrive in the US on September 28 followed by China, Spain, UK, and other countries.
- The South Korean electronics maker also teased the next Galaxy Gear S2 smartwatch which will be unveiled at IFA in Berlin on September 2.
