Intel has since long been planning to expand its stronghold to areas other than its currently dominant sectors. Within January 2017, Intel sought to buy stakes in a mapping company named ‘HERE’, introduced Simbe Robotics Tally – the world's first robotic autonomous shelf auditing and analytics solution for retail and attracted Apple to use Intel Core Kaby Lake Processors in the Apple Macbook Pro to be manufactured in 2017.
Now, the company is all set to appear in the Mobile World Congress, 2017 to be held in Barcelona, with a range of Technology Solutions on the showcase. Here we have a look at the different segments in which Intel plans to display its advancements during the event.
Intel’s foremost priority as of now seems to be bringing the 5G network connectivity to the masses. With this, Intel plans to cater to different Technology solutions which are still in the budding phase.
1. Smart Cities
Intel aims at using the 5G technology to help create well-connected Smart-cities by enabling air and water quality monitoring, first responder solutions and improved machine to machine connectivity.
Intel technology solutions aimed at achieving this include Bosch Air quality monitoring, City beacon, GE connected light pole, Water pump monitoring with NB-IoT and connected drone for first responders.
2. Autonomous Driving
Intel hopes to provide connectivity with lower latency and high bandwidth from cloud to client with the introduction of 5G connectivity.
To show its efforts towards achieving this, Intel will be holding a public demo of 5G 28Ghz OTA connectivity between ATP and Ebase station using Sharkfin antenna.
3. Smart Homes
Intel also aims to create seamless smart homes. In the line-up catering to this, Intel will display solutions like mmWave fixed Wireless Broadband and Intel Gateway Solutions.
Othe solutions include Intel Range Extender Technology, McAfee Secure Home Platform and voice control integrated into the smart home.
4. Virtual Reality
Just as all the other tech companies in the world, Intel has ‘Virtual Reality’ marked amongst its topmost priorities.
For the same, Intel will be displaying its solutions like Untethering VR headset with mmWave WiGig and will stream MEC with Nokia generated 360.
