Netflix is planning to introduce a new “video previews” feature which will help its users enhance their TV browsing experience.
Unlike traditional trailers, these videos will be an original content of Netflix that will act as a video synopsis and help the users to make more confident decisions as they sail through its content.
The video previews will start playing as soon as users hover over the titles of any content and will quickly highlight the story, characters and tone of a title.
These previews were launched globally on December 6 and will be available on eligible devices over the next few weeks.
All the Netflix enabled devices, including a majority of gaming consoles and Roku devices, will be receiving this update.
In the following months, smart TVs and other Netflix-enabled devices will also get to experience this update.
Previously, users could watch such video previews only for Netflix original content while all the other content present on the platform did not provide any such option.
Next year, the company is planning to launch more than 1,000 hours of original content.
'we know we have less than 90 seconds to capture someone’s attention and get them excited about a title, that’s why we’re introducing video previews into the TV browsing experience.' posted Stephen Garcia, Director of Product Innovation for TV & Chris Jaffe, VP of Product Innovation in a blog post
