The iconic comedy family drama Khichdi is all set to come back on screen with a sequel. Retaining its popular cast, comprising Supriya Pathak, Rajeev Mehta, Jamnadas Majethia and others, the film promises to explore a new adventure with the nostalgic comic vibe it is known for. The sequel releases on November 17 and the cast is busy promoting the film. In the latest the Khichdi 2 cast graced the stage of the singing reality show Indian Idol 14 for their Diwali special episode, ‘Diwali Family Wali’ and engaged in a fun banter with the judges and participants.
As per the promos uploaded by the channel, the contestants can be seen giving some spectacular performances that impress the judges as well as the guests. Jamnadas Majethia is also seen teasing a contestant after her performance as she dresses up as a man with a big moustache. Later, Supriya Pathak was also seen doing Garba as one of the contestants sang on the stage.

Reportedly, Vandana Pathak will ask contestant Vaibhav Gupta to perform a garba song for her. While he chooses to sing the song Chalao Na Naino Se, the cast and judges joyfully embrace the festive spirit, and everyone does garba on stage.
Indian Idol 14 started on October 14 and has an esteemed group of judges including Shreya Ghoshal, Kumar Sanu, and Vishal Dadlani on the show, which is presented by Hussain Kuwajerwala.
The trailer for Khichdi’s sequel was released earlier this month. Khichdi 2: Mission Paanthukistan promises to take the audience through their new adventure with loads of laughter and fun. Khichdi 2 will delve into the dynamics of the Parekh family, who are on a mission to destroy ‘Paanthukistan’, a fictional nation, so that it cannot cause further havoc in the globe.
Speaking about reprising her role as Hansa, Supriya Pathak said in a press conference, “We have been doing Khichdi’ for so long, so it is ingrained in us. Even if you wake us up in the middle of the night, we’ll be able to get into the character in no time. In the beginning, we worked very hard when we were building the characters, Aatish worked very hard.” The film also stars Vandana Pathak as Jayshree, Anang Desai in the role of Babuji, Rajeev Mehta as Praful, and Jamnadas Majethia as Himanshu.
Khichdi, created by Jamnadas Majethia and Aatish Kapadia’s Hats Off Productions, debuted as a TV series on Star Plus in 2002. The second season, named Instant Khichdi, premiered on Star One in 2004. In 2010, the show was adapted into a film.
