One of the most-watched culinary Hindi reality television shows — MasterChef India came up with its 8th season on October 16. In this SonyLIV TV series, food enthusiasts or aspiring chefs come under one roof to take up culinary challenges and compete against one another to impress the esteemed chef judges and lift the trophy. After almost a month-long tedious journey in the show, MasterChef India 8 finally chose the winner. Beating fellow contestants Nambie Jessica Marak and Rukhsaar Sayeed, Mangaluru’s Mohammed Aashiq has been crowned the champion of MasterChef India 8. Nambie and Rukhsaar were the first and second runner-ups of the latest season which concluded on Friday, December 8.
Congratulations have been pouring in for 24-year-old Mohammed Aashiq who impressed the judges with his culinary delight and bagged the MasterChef India 8 trophy. Sharing a picture of the young chef on Instagram, SonyLIV India wrote, “A thunderous round of applause for Mohammed Ashiq, the culinary dynamo and now the winner of MasterChef India! Your flavors spoke volumes, and your passion resonated with every dish. An exhilarating journey, a well-deserved title!”

Ranveer Brar — chef and one of MasterChef India 8 judges lauded Mohammed Aashiq for his win by penning a short and sweet note on Instagram. “From an inspirational start to a challenging journey, you never stopped daring for more. Congratulations on becoming the MasterChef Mohd. Ashiq!” congratulated Ranveer. Fellow judges Pooja Dhingra and Vikas Khanna also dropped multiple plaudits on Mohammed Aashiq for the hard work and efforts he put into his craft.

In the grand finale episode of MasterChef India 8, the judges asked the final four contestants to make their signature dish. They were allotted 90 minutes to prepare the food item and given an open pantry. Mohammed Aashiq sprinkled magic with his crab dish — a seafood item leaving Ranveer Brar awestruck with the preparation. Praising the young Mangaluruan boy, Ranveer said, “Aapke haathon mein khuda ki naimat hai bacche. People call me a machine of picking mistakes but in this dish, I cannot point out any mistake, this was all yours, completely your creation.”
In a statement, Mohammed Aashiq, who also participated in MasterChef Season 7 reflected on his journey in the 8th season. Calling it a “profound lesson” he admitted that the experience he gathered on the show “reshaped his life”. “This victory isn’t just mine; it’s for every dreamer who defies the odds to chase their aspirations,” said Mohammed Aashiq. Before participating in MasterChef India 8, he ran a juice shop in Mangaluru.
