Don’t we all love the slow mountain life? Many have found solace in the hills, giving them a much-needed break from their everyday city hustle. But for most of us, the mountain fairy tale ends once the vacation is over. However, a Bengaluru techie decided to quit his seven-year-long job at an MNC to live in the mountains of Ladakh. The 36-year-old techie has been living in a remote village called Likir, Ladakh, and has been pursuing photography and teaching analogue printing.

As reported by Money Control, all of this started when Ayan Biswas went on a two-week holiday to Ladakh. He went there just a few days before the lockdown was announced. So, when the last flights were departing, he decided to stay in the mountains and work from there. Ayan had previously travelled in Ladakh as an art teacher and felt more comfortable staying back in the village. He also had several unused leaves at work and decided not to travel back to Bengaluru. During his initial stay, he lived in a homestay and even helped the owners build a single-storey house.

During his conversation with Money Control, Ayan revealed that his managers were very supportive of his decision. He said, “I didn’t quit because they were calling me back to the office. My manager and the company’s director encouraged my creative ventures and would have extended the work-from-home arrangement. They also supported a healthy work-life balance. I quit because I did not want to live that dual life anymore. Coding in the morning and making art in the evening.”

His life in Ladakh has been nothing short of a fairy tale. He has learned photography, indulges in painting, and even practices theatre. Talking about his finances, Ayan revealed that he just needs Rs 10,000 a month to survive in Likir. He said that there has been a steady flow of photography and other projects. He also added that he was enjoying his life as a full-time artist.
