News of liquor smudging often emerges from the state of Bihar. As the government has enforced a ban on alcoholic substances, many people were earlier caught red-handed smuggling alcohol from neighbouring states like Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. A similar incident was reported in which a handicapped man was arrested.
He was riding his scooter when he was stopped for a routine inspection. The police officials asked him to remove his artificial legs out of suspicion. He was reportedly smuggling alcohol by hiding the bottles inside the legs. The man was arrested immediately.
The incident took place near Guriya Mod on the Hansdiha-Bhagalpur main road, close to the Jharkhand border. Police officials of Bounsi Police Station were conducting vehicle checks when they spotted the specially-abled man. As per reports, the name of the man is Mahesh Kumar Lal and is a resident of Ishakchak in Bhagalpur. When Mahesh saw the police checking he panicked and tried to flee from the spot.
Seeing him attempt to run away, the police officials chased him and brought him to the police station. Upon further inspection, it was revealed that one of his legs was truly artificially and he was indeed disabled. However, he filled his prosthetic legs to snuggle alcohol to the state. During the interrogation, Mahesh confessed that he had been smuggling foreign liquor for a long time now using his prosthetic legs. He used to bring alcohol from Jharkhand and smuggle it to Bhagalpur.
The police officials also inspected his scooter thoroughly. A hidden compartment was found in the scooter, which contained more bottles of liquor. In a conversation with reporters, the police officials mentioned that they had found a total of 15 bottles of liquor from the man.
