A case from the Khaira Block in Jamui district of Bihar, India is currently hitting the headlines. According to Local 18 Bihar, a living person named Ravindra Kumar Singh has been declared dead in the documents due to administrative negligence. After knowing this anomaly in the papers, Ravindra has been trying his level best to get it corrected. However, his efforts have not yielded any response as no one is ready to listen to him.

Ravindra said that he had applied for the old age pension scheme but his plea was rejected. When the Khaira Block native asked the reason for the rejection of the application, he was told that he had been declared dead. Due to this reason, Ravindra got the response, that his application cannot be accepted.

According to Ravindra, his application for the old age pension scheme has been rejected twice. However, at that time, he was not told the reason behind this. When Ravindra’s application was rejected for the third time, he went to the block office and tried to find out the reason behind it. It was then the elderly native came to know that his application had been rejected due to his dead status shown in the papers. Hence, he could also not avail the benefits of the old age pension scheme.

Now a request has been made to take action in Ravindra Kumar Singh’s case. On this matter, Block Development Officer Chandan Kumar Chakraborty said that many times such cases happen due to not doing KYC verification. KYC means Know Your Customer and sometimes Know Your Client. The BDO said that an investigation will be conducted in the matter and the mistake made in Ravindra Kumar Singh’s case will be rectified.

In the Local 18 video, Ravindra has also made many allegations. According to him, no investigation happened before declaring him dead. He also said that no officer reached his house to verify whether he had been alive or not. Ravindra also added that he enjoys robust health.

A similar case happened in 2002 when Krishnanand Saraswati, 90, a monk was declared dead on the paper. According to the Times of India report, he spent around 6 months in the government offices to convince the authorities that he was alive.
