Social media is full of food experiments, some of which include weird combinations and others become viral sensations for coming up with mouthwatering recipes. Among them is Vincent Yeow Lim, a Chinese restaurant owner and chef based in Australia, popularly known as dimsimlim. He became popular a few years ago after he presented his special dish Flying Lobster Noodles on the internet. Although this dish is not new, Vincent’s inventive method of cooking made it go viral.
Recently, Vincent was invited as a guest on an episode of MasterChef Australia, where he showed his skills and revealed the secret process behind his signature dish. As the aroma of his dish filled the studio, both contestants and judges were drooling over his creation. On the other hand, social media users also admired the chef and praised him for his skills.
Vincent begins by using disposable chopsticks to pick up a handful of noodles and explains, “So what I’m doing here is rolling the noodles into the chopsticks.” Meanwhile, he is heating oil on the side to ensure it has reached the right temperature for his dish. Talking about ideal oil temperature, the chef says that “If it’s too hot, the noodles are going to burn before it flies and if it’s not hot enough, it’s going to fall down before it flies.” Once the oil reaches his preferred heat, he pours it over the noodles to solidify their structure on the sticks.
He then says, “I’m just cooling down the noodles now. Once they cool, they’ll crisp up and hopefully… fly.” At the end, he shows the final outcome as the noodles are seen flying with the support of the chopsticks, which left everyone in the studio cheering for him. Meanwhile, one of the contestants, impressed with his skills, says, “You’re a wizard Vincent. He’s harry-woker of MasterChef Australia.”
