Grandmaster Gukesh Dommaraju, who recently won 9 of his ten matches at the Chess Olympiad in Budapest, is an equally incredible talent on the dance floor. Don’t believe us? Wearing a traditional veshti and a red kurta, he perfectly executed the hook steps of the popular song Manasilayo from the upcoming movie, Vettaiyan, originally performed by the legendary Rajinikanth.

Gukesh Dommaraju, Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa and Arjun Erigaisi played against Slovenia and won gold from the men’s team. Meanwhile, Harika Dronavalli, Vaishali Rameshbabu, Divya Deshmukh, Vantika Agrawal and Tania Sachdev won gold medals against the Azerbaijan team.
After Dommaraju’s impressive victory, Velammal Vidyalaya honoured their former student by gifting him a brand new Mercedes Benz E Class. Now, the grandmaster is gearing up to play the final of the World Chess Championship in November.
