Shah Rukh Khan’s songs from the 1990s and early 2000s are music that most of us grew up listening and dancing to. These tracks still have a strong emotional connection for us and make us feel really nostalgic. Nonetheless, we sometimes are unaware of the fact that several well-known Hindi songs from the time are just as popular internationally as they are in India. It is only via social media that we learn the popularity of Bollywood music extending far beyond the borders. Remember that video of the BTS lads dancing to Chunari Chunari and Pardesiya? This time, China has taken the lead in expressing its passion for Indian music.
The video depicts a girl singing the song in the middle of a busy roadway. With outstanding dancing moves, the audience is captivated by the performance, which draws cheers from them.
The video has more than 7 million views on Instagram with social media users in awe of its popularity.
A user commented, “Power of Shah Rukh Khan.”
“Your voice is magnificent”, said another user.
Another added, “Indian song in Chinese version.”
A user noted, “Honestly speaking, it just hit me that this is actually such a pretty melody.”
“SRK is the representative of India in the whole world,” read a comment.
The song Aankhein Khuli is from a 2000 romance musical Mohabbatein.
The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai, Uday Chopra, Jimmy Sheirgill, Jugal Hansraj, Shamita Shetty, Kim Sharma and Preeti Jhangiani. The plot tells about Narayan Shankar, the tough administrator of Gurukul College, whose daughter Megha kills herself because he forbids her from seeing Raj Aryan, the college’s music teacher. The story revolves around Raj helping three Gurukul students and their romantic interests rebel against Narayan’s hatred of love.
Being the highest-grossing Indian movie of the year, the movie was a huge commercial success at the box office. The movie brought in over Rs 90 crore globally, according to Box Office India. Notably, this was director Aditya Chopra’s second film after Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Mohabbatein garnered a leading 12 nominations for the 46th Filmfare Awards.
