Satya Narayan Nadella, better known as Satya Nadella serves as the Indian-origin Chief Executive Officer of one of the biggest tech companies, Microsoft. Having held the position since February 2014 after succeeding famous American billionaire Steve Ballmer, Nadella, a leader of the most valuable companies has been honoured with a series of awards and accolades for his contribution to the field of technology. He also remains trending on social media for his visions and opinions. While Satya Nadella and his achievements are known to the world, not many are aware of his personal life, especially his wife, Anupama Nadella.
Born in Hyderabad on 19 August 1967, Satya after completing most of his education in India later moved to the US and is presently living there with his wife Anupama, and their kids. However, his family hardly makes it to the headlines.
Who is Anupama Nadella?
Anupama Nadella is the daughter of an IAS officer. The Microsoft CEO got married to Anupama on the same date he joined Microsoft.
Born in New Delhi to IAS officer KR Venugopal, Anupama also known as Anu completed her education in Hyderabad and is an architecture graduate from Manipal University. While her husband is globally recognised for his professional endeavours, Anupama preferred to become a homemaker and gave up on her professional career to dedicate herself to her family.
At the time when Satya Nadella and Anupama got married in 1992, the Microsoft CEO had already established himself as a permanent US citizen, while his wife was an Indian resident. As a result of this, Anupama had to go through an immigration process. However, her application was eventually declined due to an extensive waiting period for spouses of green card holders.
It was at that time when Satya Nadella took a bold move and decided to give up his green card, transitioning back to an H-1B visa, which turned him into a temporary worker all over again.

The couple welcomed three children. However, they suffered a major setback with the death of their 26-year-old son Zain in 2022 due to cerebral palsy.
In the wake of her son’s condition, Anupama remains closely associated with the Seattle Children’s Hospital where she made her contribution to improving children’s health with similar conditions. Reportedly, she also donated Rs 2 crore to the livelihood of farmers and women in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. She also donated Rs 2 crore to the PM Relief Fund during the COVID-19 pandemic.
