Spotting a wild animal in an unusual place can cause a stir among the locals. Some may think their safety is compromised while others are just intrigued by its presence at a place where it should not have been. A clip from Madhya Pradesh is going viral online, which captured a leopard resting in a farmer’s field.
As per the report of Local18, the video is taken from Naya Khera, in the area of Nepanagar, Burhanpur district. The leopard was reportedly resting in a banana field when it was spotted by the locals. In the viral clip, someone captured the wild animal from behind a tree. It is seen resting lazily on the field.
The reports further state villagers hesitantly went towards the leopard to inspect. When he did not give any signs of danger, they started taking selfies with it. So, when the news of a leopard in the field started to spread around the village, the locals started to gather around the field to catch a glimpse.

As per the villagers, after reaching the farm, the leopard was already there, resting in the fields. At first, they decided to carry a stick before getting closer to the animal, only out of fear. But when they realised it was just lazing around, they let their guard down and started taking selfies with it. Then, the forest department was informed of the situation. However, before the forest department reached the place, the leopard had escaped the field. The animal did not harm anyone, despite being hounded by people for selfies and the noise.
The area is close to a dense forest, so sightings of wild animals are a frequent occurrence. And a lot of times, cases of the animals being attacked were also reported. SDOP Ajay Sagar told Local18 that the authorities are carrying a search operation. Once the leopard is found, it will be released into the forest.
