The Municipal Corporation in India is widely known for the construction of roads and other public welfare activities. In the process, they often dig holes which they usually forget about or get delayed. Rain makes the situation worse by covering the potholes and deep pits with water, confusing the commuters. The deep potholes covered with water on top can be harmful as they can lead to death too, if fallen. A similar tragedy was averted in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, when a girl fell into a pit which was covered with rainwater. The situation would’ve turned into a tragedy if a small boy had not come to the site for the rescue. The video of the incident is going viral now.
In Ammar Nagar of the city, a girl fell into a water-filled pit and narrowly escaped drowning. This video is going viral. As per the video, the civic authorities dug up a pit for construction work in Amma Nagar but left it uncovered which got filled during the rain.
In the video, an elderly woman and a girl were crossing the road to avoid the pit. During this, the girl puts her foot in the pit to measure its depth, but her foot slips and she starts drowning. In this tense situation, the girl composes herself and analyses the situation without panicking. She went to the sides and tried to get out of the pit. She pulled her body from the pit but was unable to do so. Meanwhile, a boy was passing from the location and saw the drowning girl. He had a tree branch in his hands which he immediately threw away and went to rescue the girl. He pulled the girl out of the pit. The video has gone viral now. After the viral video, the civic authorities took appropriate action to fill the potholes. Several media portals shared the viral video.
Last year in July, a 5-year-old child named Vansh Pandey died after drowning in a pit in Azad Nagar, Indore. This pit was dug for the Narmada pipeline. It was filled with rainwater.
