A 24-year-old woman from Kochi shared a distressing experience on Reddit involving a bus conductor who crossed inappropriate boundaries. She described how, on her daily bus rides, one of the two conductors initially appeared friendly and harmless. However, his behaviour became increasingly troubling as he began making her uncomfortable with persistent attempts to gain her attention. The situation worsened when he asked for her phone number, which she refused to provide. The conductor’s behaviour escalated further when he allegedly blocked her from exiting the bus until another passenger intervened and pushed him aside, allowing her to leave.
She explained, “Is the bus conductor being creepy or just friendly? I 24F take the same bus every morning to work. In the bus there are 2 conductors and the one who usually gives me the ticket is really chill. However there is another conductor who, once he realised that I was a regular would come and say hi. Initially I thought he was being friendly so I would say hi too. After sometime, he started asking more questions like have you had tea and breakfast and I thought to myself that these are harmless questions.”
The situation deteriorated further when the conductor began searching for her each morning specifically to chat. He would poke her to get her attention and even tried to wake her up from her sleep just to ask if she was resting. Additionally, he would tap her on the hand and inquire about what she was doing on her phone or who she was talking to, intensifying her discomfort.
“Yesterday, he asked me for my number when he saw that I was using my phone, I said no. But the whole thing just made me feel really odd. So today when he came to say hi I just nodded and turned my head, however when my stop came he was blocking the way for me to get out of the seat (I was sitting near the window) and the lady sitting next to me had to push him. In whatever interaction he has had with me. I have been polite and mostly replied in one word or so,” the 24-year-old added.

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “The starting didn’t seem creepy but towards the end of what you described, it surely is. If he blocked your way and someone else had to push him out, that’s suspicious.”
Another shared, “Very few men would touch/poke a girl unless they were friends. And a 40s man asking for your number is definitely crossing boundaries. Stay clear of this guy.”
“Creepy for sure. You can try indicating this to the other conductor and see how it impacts. If that’s not effective you may have to raise it further upwards,”
Another wrote, “Not every bus conductor pokes people and asks their phone number, even if he/she is a regular. Be extra careful with this weirdo.”
An individual shared, “Bus Conductors in Kochi really have a creepy attitude towards women, it’s time you change the bus or mode of transportation.”
One more added, “No decent man would poke a girl he barely knows like that. Most middle aged men out of respect will avoid physical touch as much as possible towards women who aren’t their family member.”
Since the girl shared her experience on Reddit, it has garnered over 300 upvotes.
