'Leave Pending Works And Come': This 2015 Wedding Card In Haryanvi Is Making Internet Go ROFL
As seen in the card, it is evident that it dates back to 2015 but still evokes laughter amongst social media users.

Invitation cards are always one of the integral aspects of weddings. A person came up with a quirky idea to get his wedding card designed in a quirky manner which has taken social media by storm. A lot of social media users can’t help laughing about it as the invitation has been designed humorously in the Haryanvi language. Haryanvi, when spoken with the correct accent, can spice up even the most boring conversations and it perfectly fits the bill in the case of this wedding card. As seen in the card, it is evident that it dates back to 2015 but still evokes laughter amongst social media users. The card starts with the words, “बड़े चाव ते न्यौंदा देरे, सब काम छोड के आणा होगा (We are sending this invitation with great happiness, You have to leave all your pending works and arrive at the venue).” The names of the groom and the bride are printed, Sunil and Aarti.

Below the names, another set of hillarious lines read, “दूल्हा-दुल्हन का शुभ विवाह टेक दिया है. अर इस खुशी के मौके पे थारा सारे कुणबे का न्यौता सै अर म्हारा सारा कुणबा थारे आण की गाम हैबतपुर जिला जीन्द में कसृनी तै कसूती अर ऐडी ठा-ठा कै बाट देखेगा.” (Bride-groom’s wedding has been fixed. We invite you and your entire family to the venue on this auspicious day. Our family will eagerly await your arrival at the Haibatpur village, Jind district, Haryana).

The invitation card also comprises the list of programmes that were held at the venue. The most amusing part of this information is the style in which they have been written. For example- “खाने पै टूट पड़न का टेम, छड़दम तारण का टेम…” (dinner, Taaron ki Chhaon Mein which is a term used for the vidaai ceremony). Vidaai, also known as Bidaai, is another important ceremony in an Indian wedding. It is a form of farewell ceremony organised by the bride’s family to officially bid farewell to their daughter as she leaves for her marital home. The invitation card ends with the lines – “मेरे पै दौबारा आण का टेम कोनी, कदे मेरी बाट मैं रह ज्यो, मेरे भाई के ब्याह मैं थारि सारां का आणा घणा जरूरी सै- कोमल, आशु.” (I don’t have time to come to your home and extend the wedding invitation of my brother to you again so don’t keep waiting for my arrival. Your family needs to arrive at my brother’s wedding – Komal and Ashu.

The names of other important guests have also been given on the wedding card below.
