We often take good care of our newly-purchased items. Similarly, when we buy a car or a bicycle, we make sure that it does not get any scratch or damage. A person’s new Mercedes got damaged when he tried to drive it on the beach. Recently, a video got viral. The man’s happiness turned into sorrow when his new car got stuck on the sand and he had to pull it out with the help of a tractor. Till then, social media left no stone unturned in making fun of the driver instead of sympathising with him. This driver was caught in the Morfa Bychan near Porthmadog in Gwynedd, Wales. Maritime service officers managed to rescue the vehicle before it was caught by the incoming tide. A tractor was eventually brought in to save the expensive car. A spokesman for Gwynedd council claimed in a media interview that, “Unfortunately this is not an uncommon occurrence, particularly during the busy holiday season”.
There are numerous signs on and near the beach, warning motorists about the dangers of driving on the sand. According to North Wales live, many social media users pointed this out with online sarcasm.
One witness claimed that, “24-plate Mercedes. Tractor pulled it out, rear wheels locked! Oops”, adding a crying-laughing emoji. Another Facebook user commented, “Money can buy nice cars but it can’t buy common sense”.
A spokesman explained that there are numerous reasons a car can get stuck. He had also given an example claiming that cars attempting to park on the upper part of the beach where the sand is particularly soft, or being driven on the southern part of the beach where vehicles are not permitted.
This incident serves as a reminder to heed warning signs and exercise caution, especially in the area known for their tricky terrain. Despite the driver’s costly mistake, the situation provided ample entertainment to the audiences.
