To ensure the safety and comfort of female commuters, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has been consistently urging male passengers to avoid unlawful entry into ladies’ coaches. Despite repeated warnings, incidents of unauthorised male entries and misbehaviour often come to light. In a bid to teach a lesson to such offenders, the Delhi Metro police recently took a strict step, forcibly removing men from the coaches and slapping them. A video shows the officers stationed outside a crowded metro gate pulling out the male passengers.
One can spot a female cop slapping men. Apart from the police officers, the female passengers also thrashed the men, leaving them shocked.

The viral video sparked an intense debate on social media. While some questioned the use of physical violence and the behaviour of the female passengers, others highlighted the existing gender bias on public transport. A user wrote, “Is beating allowed? or fine is only allowed? how they can beat ?”

A comment read, “That one guy who was with his wife & a small kid was let go without any beating, rest all were thrashed. Nice to see the cops acknowledge this & not treat all men similarly.”

“If men are travelling in women-only coaches in the Delhi Metro, it’s a violation of the rules, and enforcement actions may be taken. However, using excessive force like beating raises concerns about proportionality and appropriate conduct. Authorities should enforce rules fairly but without unnecessary violence,” a comment read.

According to Times Now, the incident dates back to November 2010, when it took place on Metro Line 2. Around 40 men forcefully entered the ladies’ coach and refused to vacate, despite the interventions by the DMRC and CISF officials. Acting upon the protests by the women passengers, the cops took a stern step.
