Railway Official Shows How Station Master is the 'Busiest' of All, Viral Post Gets Mixed Reactions
Railway official's post showcasing the busy desk of station masters sparks a lively debate online, with opinions split on the topic of technological progress.

Station masters, ever wondered what they do? Simply put, they’re in charge of ensuring trains move in and out of stations smoothly and on time. But behind that lies a multitude of responsibilities. From operating signals and ensuring passenger safety to managing station staff and ensuring smooth station operations, there’s a myriad of tasks that demand dedication. So, when a railway official took to social media to showcase the bustling world of a station master with a photo, it sparked a debate among internet users.

Why the debate? Well, in a post shared by @prashastisri, there were at least 10 telephones on a desk with an open register. “The Station Master’s desk. Show me a busier professional,” read the caption, shedding light on the reality of the role. While some were awestruck by the sheer number of telephones and lauded the station master’s ability to handle it all, others lamented the lack of technological advancement, feeling sorry for the station masters stuck in the past.

Here’s the Viral Post:

“Automation hone denge nahi babus and try to normalize such things and even glorify it,” one user said. Another pointed out, “Please don’t glamorize this outdated tech. Pretty sure ATCs handle much more complexity in a 3D airspace as compared to a 2D Railway line system, but their consoles are much cleaner and cooler. Time to upgrade the mentality and tech, maybe?” “Lol, automate this; this is not an achievement. It’s actually sad,” echoed a third.

Amidst the tech talk, there were those who focused on the human aspect, showering praise on station masters for their tireless dedication. “Besides handling the phones, the Station Master also has to watch the MSDAC/EI VDU (Visual Display Unit) to see whether the points are correctly aligned according to the signals. The only one to match his/her busy schedule is the Loco Pilot inside the trains,” noted one user.

Another added, “Line clearance, Gates Operation, noting to controller etc..they really work tirelessly on duty.” “Huge respect for them,” exclaimed a third.
