'The Myth, The Legend': Book On MS Dhoni In Oxford Bookstore's Mythology Section
MS Dhoni is currently involved in the IPL, representing five-time champion Chennai Super Kings.

The fandom of former India skipper MS Dhoni knows no bounds. It has been nearly four years since Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket. Since then, fans wait for the Indian Premier League (IPL) every year to see the legendary finisher in action. Whenever the former Chennai Super Kings captain has taken the field in the ongoing IPL, fans have welcomed him with the iconic “Dhoni… Dhoni” chants, echoing from every nook and corner of the stadium.

While Indian cricket enthusiasts are gripped with Dhoni fever, a book about the World Cup-winning skipper was recently spotted in the mythology section of the Oxford Book Store. The book named “Do Different: The Untold Dhoni” was kept along with publications featuring the topics of Indian epics – Mahabharata and Ramayana.

A user dropped the picture on X (formerly Twitter), tagging the author of the book, Jay Bhattacharjya, who released the first publication of “Do Different: The Untold Dhoni” in July 2022. The book was written about Dhoni’s out-of-the-box thinking, ruthless pragmatism and innate ability to understand the game of cricket.

The post featured a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat where a die-hard Dhoni fan can be seen sharing his thoughts about the incident. After he saw the book about MS Dhoni in the mythology section, the man simply replied, “The Man, The MYTH, The Legend.” The caption of the X post read, “If there was any doubt about the demigod status Dhoni enjoys in this country.”

MS Dhoni has opted for his vintage long-hair look for the ongoing IPL, which is supposedly his last professional cricket assignment. His form in the franchise competition has also been superb. Despite spending a little time at the crease, Dhoni has shown glimpses of his prime with some power-packed cameos.

Ahead of the 2024 IPL, Chennai Super Kings made a shocking announcement, replacing MS Dhoni with Ruturaj Gaikwad as the captain of the team. It could be understood that the decision was made, considering the future of the team. The news, however, disheartened many fans. Dhoni has also batted down in the order this season.

The 42-year-old might have come to bat in the death overs but didn’t fail to entertain his fans. In his 8 appearances in this IPL, Dhoni has recorded 91 runs at an exceptional strike rate of 260. He has struck 8 sixes and as many boundaries, with his highest score being an unbeaten 37.
