Patna, on January 18, hosted a unique curd-eating tournament that drew competitors from all around Bihar. In the Dahi Khao Inam Pao’ tournament, which attracted over 500 participants, people were required to consume as much curd as possible in three minutes. The Patna Dairy Project hosted the event, which was organised by Sudha Dairy to highlight the health advantages of curd. Three categories were established for the curd-eating event: senior citizens, women, and men. Since 2012, they have been planning this exceptional contest. And since 2016, there has been one winner of the contest, 63-year old Pranay Shankar Kant.
Till date no one has been able to break his record of eating 4 kg 343 grams of curd in 3 minutes. This time too, Pranay won the contest, eighth time in a row. Due to his consumption of the most curd in both the male and senior categories, Pranay Shankar Kant was declared the overall winner of the competition on January 18. Pranay laments not being able to surpass his own record, though. “I had intended to set a new record this time around by surpassing my own record of 4 kg, 343 grams, but that did not transpire. This time, I sat down incorrectly, or else I would have consumed over five kilograms of curd,” he remarked.
At sixty-three years of age, Pranay Shankar Kant is in perfect health. He is free of any illnesses. When someone calls him a senior citizen, he finds it offensive. Following his heavy curd consumption, Pranay reveals that he walks 15 to 20 km each day. He perspires as much in the month of Magh as in the summer.
“I workout for thirty minutes every morning, practising roughly fifty different types of exercises, and I also teach people how to do the same. Because of this, I have not contracted ailments like BP and sugar as of yet. When it comes to eating rasgulla or curd, I am still unmatched,” Pranay says.
