In a bizarre case, a pregnant woman travelling from Kannauj to Delhi gave birth to a child on the bus itself. The woman, along with her husband, was en route to Delhi after receiving the tragic news of her father’s death. She started experiencing labour pain near Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh. As there were hardly any women passengers on the roadway bus, the husband himself conducted the delivery of his wife. After the woman gave birth to the child on the Roadways bus, the driver of the bus took the Roadways bus to the district women’s hospital and both the mother and child were admitted to the hospital.
After his wife gave birth on a roadways bus, Shivshant, a resident of Bhagwanpur village in Kannauj district, shared that they were en route to Delhi from Kannauj via Aligarh because Soni’s father had passed away in Delhi. As they travelled, Soni, who was pregnant, began to experience labour pains on the Delhi-Aligarh-Kanpur National Highway. The bus driver, noticing her distress, pulled over to the side of the road. However, despite the urgent situation, the two female passengers on the bus were apprehensive about assisting Soni. With no help available, Shivshant stepped in and helped his wife deliver their child right there on the bus. After the delivery, the bus driver, Samar Singh, quickly drove to the district women’s hospital. Upon learning that a woman had given birth on the bus, medical staff, including a doctor, immediately attended to the mother and child, ensuring they received the necessary healthcare.
Dr Deepti from Aligarh District Women’s Hospital later reported that the woman and her newborn, both in good health, were brought to the hospital following the delivery on the bus, which was travelling from Kannauj to Delhi. The bus had stopped in Aligarh after the birth, and the mother and son were admitted to the hospital for further care.
