Virat Kohli Hates Math and This Video Proves He Loves 'Scoring' Runs, Not Marks
Virat Kohli isn't a math guy, an old video where he expresses his hatred for the subject goes viral again.

Would you ever imagine that Virat Kohli isn’t exactly a numbers guy? What? The man who effortlessly racks up numbers on the scoreboard isn’t good with numbers off the field? Well, while he’s a master at turning 10 into 100 runs, he’s admitted that dealing with numbers on paper, aka math, isn’t his forte. He’s never quite wrapped his head around it, and the whole ‘Cos Theta’ thing? It might as well be a foreign language to him.

And for many of us who share a disdain for mathematics, Kohli’s confession makes him strangely relatable. His old clip, where he expresses his dislike for the subject, has resurfaced, once again going viral. In it, he humourously recalls his struggles, saying, “So in math, we used to have exams and the maximum marks we could get in 100, right. I used to get 3, I was that good. I did not understand, why someone would even want to learn math,” said Kohli in a sports web-show, ‘In Depth with Graham Bensinger’ in 2019. “I could not understand the complications. I mean why do things have to be so difficult, I have never used those formulas in life till now.”

He goes on to explain how he excelled in sports but never quite clicked with math. “I just wanted to get through my 10th Grade exam, because they used to happen at a state level and after that, you could choose if you wanted to continue with math or not. I’m telling you, have never worked that hard in cricket the way I did to pass that exam so that I could avoid the subject forever.”

But isn’t that the story for many of us? The comment section of the now-viral video was flooded with remarks like “He is so me,” as people found his struggles all too relatable. And then there were those who took a more humorous approach, pointing out the practical applications of math in cricket, like one said, “To calculate how far your sixer gone. To calculate the ball went over stumps or not in LBW. To telicast live footage through satellites lot of maths is used bro.”

“And then we have maths teacher setting up the exam like. In an ODI if Virat Kohli ran for 30 runs and rest he has scored in boundaries. What is the minimum number of boundaries he has hit, if he has scored exactly 100,” quipped another.

Interestingly, despite his hatred for the subject, Kohli didn’t perform terribly in math in his 10th grade. A snapshot of his mark sheet from the 2004 Boards examination revealed he scored 51 in Mathematics, which isn’t exceptional but certainly isn’t terrible either, right?
