In Bengaluru, a thief was caught on camera making the rounds in various societies of the city and stealing shoes kept outside the apartment. The video, which was circulated widely on the internet, captures the thief’s casual approach where he takes his sweet time to inspect each pair of shoes before stealing them.
The viral footage, shared on Instagram, shows a man whose face is covered with a mask casually strolling through a corridor with a sack. Initially, he steps out of the frame to the opposite side of the corridor before returning with two pairs of shoes. He then stops in front of a shoe rack and carefully examines each pair. He collects a total of four pairs before placing them all into his sack.
Though the location and time of the incident remains unverified, the caption accompanied with the video stated, “Visuals of Shoe Theft took place in C-Block, AECS Layout, Brookefield Bengaluru for the second time In 6 months #bengaluruupdates.”

Since being posted online over a month ago, the video has gained significant attention, racking up over 1.1 million views. The incident sparked concerns among internet users with many sharing similar experiences from their own societies.
One user, tagging Bengaluru City Police, commented, “I can’t understand how crime rates and robbery like this are ignored in Bangalore ?? Such petty things can get converted into big stuff. Can you take some strict action on this? Police keep patrolling at night. How can they get in so easily and step out without any tension .. this is not Bangalore??”
Another user questioned, “What security guard was doing then.”
A commenter noted, “This has been happening in AECS layout for 10 years and the irony is police will not help and not stop such activities,” and another added, “What security does best. Snore. It’s the same everywhere. Day security is busy playing games on his phone. So engrossed that he doesn’t even realise people are walking past. Night security goes to sleep at 11.”
A viewer shared, “This is happening everywhere in Bangalore, even at Maruti nagar of Malleshpalya,” while someone else asked, “Why do people not keep their shoes in the apartment.”
Amidst the serious remarks, some users offered a humourous take on the situation.
One user quipped, “Socks toh le jata Bhai (Take the socks as well brother) Take care of your shoes everyone!!” Another added, “Imagine having bad Footwear that even the Thief doesn’t want to steal.”
A person playfully wrote, “It’s 112, What’s your emergency? “It’s my game at the Nationals today and I’m left with a pair of heels!””
