'Boss Baby': Kensington Palace Unveils Portrait Of Prince Louis On His Sixth Birthday

Britain’s Kensington Palace on Tuesday released an unedited portrait of Prince Louis on his sixth birthday. The image, shared on the official social media accounts of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, was posted at 04:45 pm (IST).

Depicting the young prince lying on a rug on the grass, smiling directly at the camera, the photograph was described as being taken in recent days at Windsor. “Happy 6th Birthday, Prince Louis! Thank you for all the kind wishes today. The Princess of Wales,” Kensington Palace said in a post on social media platform X.

‘Shift in protocol’

This marks a shift from the usual protocol followed by the royal couple for their children’s birthdays. Instead of sharing the portrait with the press a day prior under embargo, it was publicly released on Prince Louis’ actual birthday. The decision, according to British media, is understood to be influenced by the current circumstances faced by the family, amid the Duchess of Cambridge’s ongoing chemotherapy treatment following a cancer diagnosis.

Prince Louis, born on April 23, 2018, at the private Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, is fourth in line to the throne. He was christened Louis Arthur Charles by the Archbishop of Canterbury at the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace when he was 11 weeks old.
