A group of men in masks opened fire at an outdoor party in the US state of California, killing four people and injuring three others Sunday evening, authorities said. Police responded to a reported shooting around 6 pm (local time) in King City and found three men with gunshot wounds who were pronounced dead.
Four other people sustained gunshot wounds, including a woman who died after being transported to Mee Memorial Hospital in King City, about 170 kilometers south of San Jose. “On 3/3/2024, at approximately 6:00 PM, officers from the King City Police Department were dispatched to 200 Block of N. 2nd Street on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, they located three male adults with gunshot wounds in the front yard of the residence. All three were pronounced deceased at the scene,” the King City Police Department said in a statement.
“Investigation revealed four other people had sustained gunshot wounds as well. One, a female adult, was transported by another person to Mee Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The other three, all adult males, were transported to Natividad Hospital in Salinas for medical treatment,” it added. The three injured men were transported to Natividad Hospital in Salinas, police said. Several people were at the party outside a residence when three men with dark masks and clothes got out of a silver car and fired at the group.
The suspects, who were not immediately identified, then fled the scene in the car. “Further investigation revealed that there had been a party at the residence with several people in the front yard. A silver Kia pulled up in front of the residence. Three males exited the vehicle and shot multiple rounds at the partygoers in the front yard. The suspects got back in their vehicle and fled the scene. The suspects were wearing dark-colored clothing and had dark-colored masks over their heads,” police said. The investigation is ongoing, it added.
