IndiGo, Jet pull out content from makemytrip.com
The airlines allege that the site favoured GoAir, SpiceJet and Kingfisher and was following an opaque fare policy.

New Delhi: It is a double whammy for travel website MakeMyTrip.com. Indigo Airlines and Jet Airways, who together constitute over 50% market share in domestic flying, have pulled out content from the site.

Both the airlines IndiGo and Jet Airways have decided to minimise their ticket sales from the portal as they feel that Make My Trip was showing favoritism to some of the participating airlines like GoAir, SpiceJet and even Kingfisher Airlines. The airlines also allege that the website was following the opaque fare policy, which according them is anti-consumer.

Both these airline put together constitute almost 50-60% of the market share and this will mean that it will be a big loss of revenues for MakeMyTrip.

In fact, when we contacted IndiGo said that their arbitrary display of fares and opaque pricing is anti-consumer and is in violation with DGCA directive and norms. It also says that they have raised this issue with Make My Trip on several occasions, but there has been no resolution and hence they have decided to not support a blatant violation of the law and something that is apparently anti-consumer.

As far as Jet is concerned, the airline says that they have not withdrawn completely, but have minimized their inventory sale on the website.

Meanwhile, Make My Trip on their part has said that the fares and inventory on their website is controlled by the airlines. They have said that all the fares are displayed as per the guidelines okayed by airlines and the special fares have also been approved by participating airlines.
