Ahead of the second edition of the Women’s Premier League, the Gujarat Giants have named a replacement for their Australian pacer.
The Gujarat Giants have officially named Lea Tahuhu as their replacement for Lauren Cheatle for the upcoming season of the WPL 2024.
Tahuhu, who has represented New Zealand in 80 T20Is and 93 ODIs and has 78 and 109 wickets to her name in T20Is and ODIs respectively, will join GG for INR 30 Lakh.

The New Zealander had gone unsold in the recently concluded WPL auctions for the 2024 season.
She also has experience playing in the Women’s Big Bash League where she has racked up 57 wickets in the 70 matches she has played with an economy rate of 6.12 runs per over.
Cheatle has recently undergone a medical procedure on her neck and will be unavailable for the upcoming TATA WPL season. The Australian was picked up in the 2024 auctions for a price of INR 30 Lakhs.

The Gujarat Giants will look to put their woes from the previous season behind them as they finished at the bottom of the table having won only two games from the eight games played.
The side went on to release the majority of their squad and had the biggest purse ahead of the 2024 auctions. This was followed by big purchases which include the big-money signing of the uncapped Indian all-rounder Kashvee Gautam for INR 2 Crores to make her the most expensive uncapped player in WPL history.
Under the leadership of Beth Mooney, the side will look to perform well in the second edition of the WPL which will take place on February 23 to March 17. The tournament will be taking place in Bengaluru and Delhi.
