'He is a Very Good Batsman, But Comparisons Are Too Early': Virender Sehwag on India's Yashasvi Jaiswal
Sehwag stated that whilst all the credit is well-deserved, it would be unfair for people to draw up comparisons of Jaiswal with other legendary batters so early into his career.

There is no denying the talent of young swashbuckling opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, especially given his fruitful start in Test cricket. As various people have described it, Jaiswal playing Test cricket is like a fish taking to water. Seamless.

Yet another talisman personality to praise the opener has been former Indian opener Virender Sehwag, who also was in awe of the youngsters’ exploits.

Sehwag stated that whilst all the credit is well-deserved, it would be unfair for people to draw up comparisons of Jaiswal with other legendary batters so early into his career.

“He is a very good batsman but I think comparisons are too early,” Sehwag told PTI Bhasha in a virtual interaction from Dubai on Wednesday.

Jaiswal notched up a sensational double-century in the first innings of the second Test in Visakhapatnam, which was ultimately one of the points of difference in the encounter, helping India set a daunting task for the visitors to ultimately triumph over them by 106 runs.

Jasiwal and Shubman Gill have come into their own, as they made up for a rather dismal showing from the brest of their batters.

As India set out to face England in the third Test of their five-match series today, much has been said about ‘Bazball’, England’s newfound approach to Test cricket which pivots heavily around aggressive batting, birthed from none other than one Brendon McCullum himself.

As one of the most destructive batters of his era himself, Sehwag feels that Test cricket is the biggest platform for players to express themselves.

“Test cricket has always been a format where one should go out and express themselves,” stated Sehwag referring to England’s Bazball approach of play.

Well, one needn’t wait too long to witness what might transpire again as after a week’s pause, India and England are back in action once again to face each other in the tiebreaker that is the 3rd Test of their five-match series, in Rajkot today.

England have already shown that they can pose India the kind of challenge that no team has even come close to on Indian soil in the recent past and with the series currently standing at 1-1, the result of this game will prove to be pivotal in the result of the series.
