Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec has become a hit for sportspersons around the world following his exploits at the recent Paris Olympics.  The 51-year-old became an overnight sensation during the Paris Games where he secured the silver medal in the mixed 10m air-pistol event along with Sevval Ilayda Tarhan.

He appeared in the final with minimal gear and his laid-back demeanour made him an instant hit.

West Indies cricketers Kieron Pollard and Akeal Hosein were spotted imitating the viral pose of Dikec in the final of The Hundred Men’s competition between Southern Brave and Oval Invincibles at Lord’s held on August 18.

The Caribbean duo who represented Southern Brave in the match pulled off the celebration during Oval Invincibles’ batting in the first innings.

Akeal Hosein was the first to mimic the shooting pose of Dikec when he took the wicket of Sam Curran in the 67th delivery.

Pollard did the same after completing the catch of Donovan Ferreira off Hosein’s bowling.

Hosein was the top-performing bowler for Southern Brave. Besides Sam Curran and Ferreira, the 31-year-old spinner dismissed opposition captain Sam Billings for a golden duck.

Riding on Will Jacks’ quickfire 37 and some valuable contributions by Jordan Cox and Tom Curran, the Oval Invincibles posted 147 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their quota of 100 balls.

Alex Davies and skipper James Vince gave Southern Brave a powerful start. The opening pair added 58 runs.

Davies played a commendable 35-run knock featuring 6 boundaries while Vince struck three fours to score 24 off 22 balls.

Among the other batters, only Leus du Plooy and Craig Overton could breach the 20-run mark. Pollard, who came in to bat No. 6, failed to open his account and managed to survive only four deliveries.

In the end, the Southern Brave fell 17 runs short of the target, with the Oval Invincibles retaining The Men’s Hundred title.

Saqib Mahmood, who fetched a three-wicket haul for the champions, was named the player of the match.

Curran was adjudged the ‘Most Valuable Player’ of the season.
