Sanju Samson Says 'Game is Never Done Till it is Done' After Sunrisers Hyderabad Pip Rajasthan Royals by 1 Run
Sanju Samson said Rajasthan Royals have played some close games and won a couple of them but lost one to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by just one run in their 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday.

RR skipper Sanju Samson said that they have played a few close games this season and have been on the winning side but couldn’t get it over the line against SRH. He also credited the opposition bowlers as they managed to keep the scoring rate at exactly 10 runs an over till the very final over.

“We have really played some close games and won a couple of them. Lost one here, and we have to give credit to the SRH bowlers. We were going at 10 per over till the last over,” Sanju Samson said after the match.

“Margin for error is very less in the IPL and you have to give SRH credit. Knowing the nature of the IPL, you never win the game until you actually win the game,” he added.

Sanju also said early on it was tough to bat against the new ball and the SRH bowlers bowled well.

“It was very tough to bat on with the new ball. We bowled well in the powerplay. When the ball got old, it was easier to bat and they capitalised really well,” Sanju said.

After the initial setback of losing Jos Buttler and captain Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 40-ball 67 and Riyan Parag’s 49-ball 77 helped RR be in the hunt of clinching an impressive win.

But once the duo’s 133-run partnership was broken, SRH roared their way back into the game to seal it and complete a remarkable comeback, giving RR its first defeat while chasing in the season.

Sanju praised Yashasvi and Riyan on their innings.

“You have to give credit to both youngsters. They took care of the innings, played responsibility to get there. You tend to take those chances and you tend to get out also. They played really well,” Sanju said.
