As poverty and hunger are the most prevalent issues in the country, the poor section of society suffers the most due to these issues. However, the government of India has been introducing several measures to benefit them. One such measure for the students is the mid-day meal scheme. Under this welfare scheme, free food is provided to children coming from the poorest sections of society. This applies to most government schools as a measure to increase the literacy rate in India. Now, some recent developments have been made in the government schools in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
As per the instruction issued by the Directorate of Secondary Education in Bikaner, Rajasthan, the mothers of the students will also be included to test the quality of mid-day meals in schools. It has been reported that mothers will come to the school and first check the quality of the food. Only then will the mid-day meal be served to the children. As per the new rules, five mothers will be called every day to taste the mid-day meal. The education department of Bikaner believes that the new system will improve the quality of mid-day meals in schools.
For the new system to be implemented properly, the principals and teachers of the government schools will have to prepare one week’s data in advance. Mr Nekiram, who is a district education officer in Alwar, Rajasthan, has revealed that these measures have been put in place by the Directorate of Secondary Education Department, Bikaner, to improve the quality of mid-day meals.
He added that with the new implementation, around 2,61,718 students up to eighth grade will get good-quality food in the schools of the district. He also added that during the inspection, officials will also check the food. The mothers will have to record their remarks and suggestions in a register. He also added that this will also improve the teacher’s ability to arrive early in the schools and will improve the quality of education.
