The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts various competitive examinations annually to fill several positions under the Central Government. Every year, the commission issues a calendar mentioning the dates of the upcoming exams, which will be conducted throughout the year. This year, the commission had to revise the dates of various recruitment exams due to the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
SSC will be conducting the recruitment exam for many departments, including SSC Multi-tasking Staff, SSC CPO SI, Junior Translator, Senior Translator, SSC Combined Graduate Level Exam (CGL), Stenographer and SSC GD.
Revised Exam Dates
Due to the General elections in 2024, a few examinations have been moved forward. The Junior Engineer Exam (JE) – for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Quantity Surveying and Contracts- which was initially scheduled to be held on June 4,5 and 6, will now be conducted June on 5,6 and 7. However, the Selection Post Examination Phase 12 2024 will now be held on June 24, 25 and 26.
Apart from these, the exam for the post of Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Forces (Paper 1) will now be conducted on June 27, 28 and 29, while the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level exam will be held between July 1 to July 12.
The SSC had decided to postpone the recruitment exams to ensure a smooth election process throughout the country.
The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on June 4, after which the commission will begin the recruitment process.
SSC earlier released a notice on their official website at ssc.gov.in that read, “Due to the general elections to be held from April 19 to June 1 and counting on June 4 the commission has rescheduled the following examinations.”
“The schedule published vide important notice dated 28.12.2023 stands modified accordingly. The candidates are advised to visit the website of the commission at regular intervals for further updates,” the note further read.
Every year, around 30 lakh students appear for the SSC recruitment exam.
To apply for the SSC recruitment exams, candidates must hold a Class 10 passing certificate or a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. Also, every candidate should be between 18 to 35 years of age.
