Newcastle have not won in seven English Premier League outings

New Delhi: Newcastle Manager Kevin Keegan is hopeful their match against Middlesbrough on Sunday will provide his team with their first victory in his current spell as Newcastle manager.

The Magpies have recorded a goalless home draw with Bolton, and back-to-back three-nil away defeats to Arsenal in the FA Cup and English Premier League since Keegan has been selecting the side.

Newcastle are desperate for a victory, not just for Keegan's sake, but they have not won in seven league outings and are only seven points above the relegation zone.

Keegan will not have Habib Beye and Abdoulaye Faye back in time for the derby.

Mark Viduka and Jose Enrique, though, are going to be available after injury, along with Emre Belozoglu.

"There's nothing wrong with Michael's fitness. Yeah, he needs a goal. All strikers need goals. We need to start supplying him with chances. In a game, if you're a forward, you need three or four chances every game, and then you'll take the knocks if people start saying your not scoring goals. But in reality, if everyone would be honest, in the three game that I've been in charge, I can honestly say we haven't provided him with any real good opportunities," Keegan said.

What's your reaction?
