100 more buses for this months Bus Day

BANGALORE: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), this month, Bus Day will be held on the 5th, with some renewals.To help commuters, BMTC will add 100 more buses to the city’s roads.The special Bus Day will focus on the following routes: Old Airport Road (ITPL), Sarjapur Road, Hosur Road, Bannerghatta Road, Mysore Road, Magadi Road, Tumkur Road, Bellary Road, Dhanisandra Road, Hennur Road and Old Madras Road.BMTC buses currently reach 5921 destinations with 79,000 daily rounds.This month, buses will operate from 7am to 10pm in more than 1500 destinations.Bus Day was first started in February 2010, with a particular focus on 2 corridors - Hosur Road and Old Airport Road.The prime motive was to encourage citizens of Bangalore to use public transportation .As part of the current Bus Day celebration, new bus facilities will be made available at Vijayanagar, Banashankari, Kempegowda Bus Stand and Electronic City - Phase 2.
