Mumbai: Former Indian cricket captain Dilip Vengsarkar on Tuesday recommended the injured cricket players including, Sachin Tendulkar and Ashish Nehra, to undergo physio-therapy and rehabilitation using the latest state-of-the art Sports Therapy Rehabilitation System (STRS).

Vengsarkar, after inaugurating the STRS at Saifee hospital in south Mumbai, said "those criketers who are injured during the game or otherwise should come and take advantage of this advanced system which would enable the players to look at their own progress scientifically."

"I recommend the treatment and rehabilitation and reassesment through this system for injured players like Laxmipathy Balaji, Zaheer Khan , Ashish Nehra, Ramesh Powar and also master blaster Sachin Tendulkar," he said.

Speaking on the occasion, former physiotherapist of Indian cricket team Andrew Liepus said, "the current system installed at the Saifee gives more objective reassessment of the progress of the treatment as well as rehabilitation."

Currently, the sports physiotherapists use clinical and functional methods for reassessment of the progress made by injured sportsperson, Liepus added.

When asked what were the common injuries he came across during his tenure as a physiotherapist for Indian cricet team, he said "shoulder, back and leg injuries were common but spine and hip injuries also occur in those playing cricket."
