CRY volunteers showcased photographs campaigning for education of the girl child at two-day exhibition

A photo exhibition was held as part of the Click Rights campaign by Child Rights and You (CRY) at the Koyambedu Bus Terminus on Sunday. The campaign was part of the efforts of the NGO to raise awareness on educating the girl child.  Volunteers of CRY, who had visited various parts of the city over the last month took the photographs that were displayed in the exhibition.

The expo, a two-day event, commenced on Saturday, and was held simultaneously in other parts of the city such as Elliot’s Beach, Central Railway Station, and numerous schools and colleges. The photographs were shortlisted from an initial database of about 1,500 snaps. Sonali, a volunteer, said that  the expo was preceded by a month-long campaign through the social media to raise awareness on issues such as female infanticide and providing education to the girl child.

This is in addition to a signature campaign that the NGO had conducted in the fore-mentioned places on the theme. The volunteers managed to collect about 4,500 signatures.
